The chess
club is open to all ages and abilities. If you don’t know how to play but would like to learn, join us. This class is
an opportunity to play the game with other “Chessparadoes.” Lessons are incorporated through the year, with an
emphasis on opening, middle, and end game basic principles. Homework is optional. There are four opportunities for players
K through 8 grade to participate in local city-wide scholastic chess tournaments throughout the year. All boards and pieces
are provided.
*If you decide
to play in a tournament, they are $12 to $18 per tournament. The State Tournament is usually held in March and offers a very
competitive opportunity for those in K-8th grade to challenge themselves and participate as a team at a statewide tournament.
All tournaments are optional.
