BEGINNING SEWING
Grades 4 to 10
Semester Fee: $80
Class Size: Min. 2, Max. 4
Sewing is fun and rewarding especially when you can use or wear things you’ve made. This class begins with the basics,
from plugging in the sewing machine to creating a pair of pajamas. Eleven projects will be completed this year with each sewing
project focusing on mastering specific sewing techniques and building upon skills learned. Projects include: pillowcase, drawstring
bag, pot holder, tote bag, skirt, vest, pajamas, and purse. Please note: occasionally there is homework; each student is responsible
for finishing their assignments and bringing appropriate materials and supplies to class.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Portable sewing machine (cleaned and oiled), sewing box with basic sewing supplies (list will be mailed
over the summer). A book is required: Stitches & Pins by JoAnn Gagnon.
INTERMEDIATE SEWING
Grades 6 to 12

Sewing is a rewarding and profitable hobby, it is a skill that will last for a lifetime. his class is designed to teach
your young seamstress more difficult sewing techniques like waistbands, zippers, darts, buttonholes, gathering, set-in sleeves,
pockets, and more. Along with a textbook, we will use store bought patterns featuring teen fashions. The girls are encouraged
to personalize their projects, thus giving them the opportunity to design one-of-a-kind garments.
PREREQUISITE: Completion of Beginning Sewing or an appropriate amount of previous sewing experience as determined by the
teacher.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Portable sewing machine (cleaned and oiled), sewing box with basic sewing supplies (list will be mailed
over the summer). A book with patterns is required: Pins & Needles by JoAnn Gagnon.
INTERMEDIATE QUILTING
Grades 6 to 12
Semester Fee: $80
Class Size: Min. 2, Max. 4
This class is designed to further your young quilter’s quilting skills. First semester we’ll make a 12-patch
sampler quilt. Second semester we’ll make a flying geese quilt. Cutting with a rotary cutter, binding, and machine quilting
are a few of the skills that will be enhanced.
PREREQUISITE: Completion of Beginning Sewing & Quilting or Beginning Sewing.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Portable sewing machine (cleaned and oiled), basic sewing supplies (list will be given the first day
of class.)
