Rockford F.I.R.E. Girls' Volleyball Program
Rockford F.I.R.E. Girls' Volleyball Program
Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops offers middle school and high school girls' volleyball teams. We are a cooperative faith-centered program that relies on parent volunteer participation to run the program well and to keep fees affordable for all.
- Middle School: 6th through 8th grade
- High School: Through 12th grade
Homeschool families interested in participating in F.I.R.E. sports must go through the Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops application and interview process. Students are not required to enroll in a Hallstrom academic class to participate in a Rockford F.I.R.E. sports team.
Tryouts may be conducted and are implemented at the A.D.'s and coaches' discretion. Should tryouts be implemented, they will be held in July before practices begin.
Eligibility:
The Rockford F.I.R.E. Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Team is a competitive team that provides both instruction for newer players as well as advanced instruction for returning players. If your daughter is a newer player, we strongly recommend summer camps and practices for them to get started on the basics.
The level of play is determined by ability, not grade level. Player placement is per coach's discretion. Sign-ups will end June 30th. A mandatory parent meeting will be scheduled after spring signups.
All players must be home-schooled for at least 51% of their current education.
- must have a 70% or higher grade in all Hallstrom academic classes.
- must have a 75% or higher attendance record for Hallstrom classes.
- may not participate in games and possibly practices while on academic probation.
Once a student has been listed as a ninth grader, that student will be limited to the next four consecutive seasons of participation. A tenth-grade student has three more seasons of participation. An eleventh-grade student has two more seasons of participation. A twelfth-grade student has one season to participate.
Any student reaching the age of 19 before August 1st, shall not be eligible for participation in Rockford F.I.R.E. sports.
Once a student has graduated or gone through a graduation ceremony, he/she will no longer qualify for a Rockford F.I.R.E. sports team regardless of his/her age.
Any student who is under disciplinary action and transfers from a public, private, or another home school program/co-op must wait one year before he/she is eligible to participate in Rockford F.I.R.E. sports.
Sports physicals are required by all players and are only good for 395 days. Player sports physicals must be submitted to the team athletic director before the player can begin practicing with their team.
Practices:
August: M, T, TH 5:30-7 PM
September-October: T, TH 5:30-7 PM
- Times and schedules are subject to change depending on the game schedule.
- A complete schedule will be listed on TeamReach.
Fees:
An annual sports-only registration fee of $175 for each family is due to Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops for families that are not already taking classes at Hallstrom. Families that take classes at Hallstrom will not be billed an additional registration fee, as their semester registration fees include F.I.R.E. sports. Uniforms are provided on loan, at no additional charge, for the season and must be returned on time at the end of the season to avoid any additional charge.
Athletic fees are separate and cover all regular season games. Athletic fees are due in two installments, with half being due on Aug.1st and the remainder due on Sept. 1st. Payments can be made on the hallstromhomeschool.org website. Athletic fees cover all regular season games. Transportation, hotel, and food costs are not included.
- Middle School Athletic Fee: $325
- High School Athletic Fee: $400
